M110 Focuser Bearings

A few images to show how easy it is to replace the bearings in a William Optics Megrez 110ED scope.

I bought some VXB 3x8x4 bearings on Ebay. They appear 'fine' but not the best. I guess that's what you get for spending $25 for 10 of them :-) If you are serious about this I recommend upgrading to ceramic ball bearings or something else high-end.

You may find that some bearings are stuck on the brass screws that keep them in place. In fact one I could not dislodge without using lots of force so I left it. The bearing was fine anyway. I marked it so I can see which one is which later on.

I replaced the bearings because one was bad. I could move it perpendicular to the axis with my fingers. In a focuser you don't want that.
